“Listen to the story told by the reed
of being separated
Since I was cut from the reed bed
I have made
this crying sound. Anyone
separated from someone he loves
understands what I say:
Anyone pulled
from a source
longs to go back.”
— Rumi

Each time we practice trust in ourselves, it’s a little visit home. It feels so good and so right. Doubt, judgement, and opinions fall away. Each time we get quiet enough to hear, we strengthen that relationship with ourselves, cultivating greater trust, maybe choosing it with more ease and confidence the next time around. The practice of yoga, all 8 limbs, helps us know and cultivate trust in ourselves, bringing us home.

Being able to hear the truth within us requires total presence and awareness. Have you ever experienced for yourself or witnessed someone else in an argument, and the more disconnected they become from the truth or the more “wrong” they feel, the louder they become? When you’re speaking your Truth, you don’t have to shout; you can stand right over yourself with your feet grounded and speak plainly, even softly. Similarly, fears shout very loudly, and so sometimes we have to get quiet and listen closely to hear the Truth within us.

“As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.” — Goethe
