“Enlightenment… is nothing more and nothing less than a radical change of perspective.” — Judith Hanson Lasater
In the last post I wrote about being willing. Shifting perspective requires a willingness.
It requires a willingness to let go of the old way of seeing or doing things, a willingness to let go of being right, and a willingness to let go of the need to have an answer or to have things “figured out.” At the same time, it requires a willingness to embrace the uncertainty, impermanence, and fluidity of every single thing, as well as a willingness to embrace contentment and welcome lightness.
During this month in which we place extra attention on gratitude and giving thanks, I think it’s helpful to remember that it is a shift in perspective which allows us to practice gratitude in every single moment.
As always, you can begin right here and now. Arriving fully in the present moment is the first step toward shifting perspective and living in gratitude. Doing so requires a willingness to leap in and experience life exactly as it is. When we do this, we see clearly, and even if we see or sense pain, we also see and sense a multitude of things for which to be grateful.
“Gratitude bestows reverence… changing forever how we experience life and the world.” — John Milton
Every time you show up and live honestly in the present moment you exhibit bravery and a willingness, you say “yes” to life and share your light. For this, for you, I am grateful. The light in me honors the light in you.
