The Myth of Separateness

“There is no difference is souls, only the ideas about ourselves that we wear.”              — B.K.S. Iyengar

We each have a unique identity and story. They are important, they are on purpose, they are specific to each of us and exactly what we need to learn what it is we are meant to learn, grow where we need to grow, do what we’re meant to do here, and ultimately remember who we are and our way home. Our individual stories and identities support our personal journey.

But greater than our difference is our sameness. We see, hear, sense, and recognize our truest Self in one another.

Yoga means “union.” Union of body and spirit, the tangible and intangible, movement and breath, heart and mind, dark and light, earthly, and heavenly, physical and ephemeral, rooting and rising, grounding and lifting, self and other.

“We’re here to awaken from the illusion of separateness.” — Ram Dass
